This organization tries to encourage landscaping with native plants and other vegetation
appropriate to Arizona.
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
World-renowned for its animal and plant exhibits of the Sonoran desert region, the Desert
Museum web pages offer information about exhibits, research programs, calendar of events
and much more.
Community Gardens of Tucson
If you don't have room for a vegetable garden at your home check out Tucson's community
gardens. At various locals around the city you can inexpensively rent garden space and
learn from the experiences of other Tucson gardeners.

Cooperative Extension, Ag. Extension in
Phoenix
This is the Web site for Maricopa County. Although Tucson is at a higher elevation there's
plenty of useful information from this well thought-out Web site.
Desert Survivors
This non profit organization runs a nursery specializing in native, drought
tolerant tress, shrubs, grasses, cacti and ground covers. Sales of the
plants help support their many human
services programs. The nursery is open to the public and offer a spring and
fall plant sale.
Gardening In Tucson Blog

Growing Hydroponic Tomatoes
If you're looking for a good source of information on hydroponically growing tomatoes stop
by this University of Arizona Web site. Here you'll find everything you need to know to
either stimulate or squelch your interest in hydroponic tomato growing.
Native Seeds/Search
Located in Tucson native seeds tries to preserve, and make available, a viable supply of
seeds for plants and vegetables used by the areas indigenous people. Seeds can be
purchased so the Tucson gardener can try growing some of the plants in the home garden.
Phoenix Tropicals
This gardener is trying to successfully grow tropical plants in Phoenix. The
site is still under development but it does have information that can be
adapted by Tucson gardeners wanting to grow Plumeria and bananas.
Plants for the Southwest

The Rose Society of Tucson

Tohono Chul Park
Located in northwest Tucson near the Ina and Oracle Road intersection the 48-acre site has
500 species of plants and an artifact collection of traditional Native American crafts.
Tohono Chul Park also has a Tea Room which is open daily.

Tucson Botanical Gardens
