Here's the Scoop
E
mpty tin cans and bare hands used to be my favorite method of scooping potting soil into smaller flower pots until I invested in a couple of different plastic and aluminum scoops. The aluminum scoop is never very far from plastic trash can that holds potting soil. The plastic scoops might end up in the birdseed bucket or near a bag of fertilizer.  They save wear and tear on the hands and fingernails and make it easy to move soil to flats and pots, birdseed to feeder, or fertilizer to bucket.

Green plastic scoop has lots of garden uses like filling a bird feeder with  seed.

Plastic scoop dishes out bird seed.

Heavier and larger aluminum scoop is great for all kinds of potting soil.

Large aluminum scoop is great for potting soil.

The aluminum scoops are a bit more expensive than plastic, long lasting and can support heavier material. The plastic scoops are less expensive, susceptible to damage but still have their uses in the garden.

Scoops come in different shapes and sizes and can be purchased from a variety of vendors on the Web. Gear your search for either aluminum or plastic scoops.
