It's the Spray that Counts
A
quality watering wand is a must for gardeners with potted or hanging plants. They're good for getting the water where it needs to go. The wands are great but it's the nozzle on the end that can make the difference between watering a plant and dislodging the soil. Finding a replacement nozzle might be a bit difficult.  I know, I went looking for a screw-on replacement nozzle for two of my aluminum 36-inch wands and never did find one locally. I ended up purchasing a couple of plastic ones in a specialty catalog that offered ultra-soft water nozzles. While I was at it I also ordered a metal fogg-it nozzle for misting the greenhouse plants and watering newly planted flats of seeds.

Three water nozzles.

On the left is the original watering wand nozzle. On the right the fine holes of the new nozzle.

All three nozzles work well and the ultra-soft with the hundreds of tiny holes are much better than the metal nozzle that came with the original aluminum watering wand I purchased locally. The holes in the nozzles are very small so they clog easily and I'm sure Tucson's hard water will eventually fill the ultra fine holes. But until then, they help keep the soil in the pots and flats where it belongs.

Check for fogging and  water nozzles at Charley's Greenhouse and Garden with prices ranging from $5.50 to &9.95 each.
