Gambel's quail stopping for a drink of water.

Birds - In and Around the Garden
T
here are quite a few unique birds that can be found in Tucson gardens such as the noisy Cactus wren or the fast walking, early morning talking Gambel's quail. Birds can be easily attracted to your garden by offering, water, food, nesting areas and protective cover from predators whether its a dog, cat or predatory bird.

Many birds such as the nectar loving hummingbirds are migratory and spend a limited amount of time in Tucson gardens as they move from one location to another. Keep your eyes open and have a good set of binoculars handy and you might be surprised what you see visiting your garden.

To help you identify some of the birds found in and around Tucson gardens names and photographs of some of the most common are posted here.
