They are ornery, uncooperative beasts that bully their way through the garden and rip up lines of buried drip systems or chew on the emitters. They knock over potted plants, walk on the porch looking for food and once in a while force their way under the fence into the vegetable garden. Sometimes they arrive in pairs, other times in herds. But I still like to see them now and again to know they manage to coexist with civilization. Usually I can tell they've been around by the amount of damage or the telltale footprints (adult and baby prints) as seen in the photograph below. The answer is javelina.  [ Back ]

Big and small javelina passed this way.
